"This is a smoky, slightly reductive number with flint and hazelnut notes and a fine, elegant palate. One judge even wrote "Puligny-Montrachet", referencing the famously restrained chardonnay from Burgundy." -Metro Wine Awards, 2024
Was a warm and sunny spring/early summer resulted in great fruit set and healthy canopies. Minimal leaf plucking helped maintain freshness and acidity. This all lead to a cooler autumn , which allowed us 'hang time', and we picked the fruit at optimum ripeness. Dry grown, hand picked, whole bunch pressed. 9 months in a mixture of oak.
An attractive, slightly reductive, 'struck match' character on the nose, combined with oodles of citrus and stonefruit, - slight oyster shell minerality. On the palate - some creamy citrus tart, yellow stone fruit then flashes of green and flintiness.. fresh and lively.
